Eastern Promises to open London Film Festival

 Hot on the heels of the brand new poster design (left) comes the exciting news that Eastern Promises, the latest film by widely acclaimed director David Cronenberg, will screen as the Opening Night Gala at this year's London Film Festival on Wednesday 17th October.
The London set thriller marks the first time Cronenberg has shot an entire film away from his native Canada, and reunites the director with his A History of Violence leading man Viggo Mortensen. Naomi Watts (The Ring), Vincent Cassel (Sheitan) and Armin Mueller-Stahl (The Game) also star. The script is by Stephen Knight who also wrote Dirty Pretty Things for Stephen Frears.
The plot centres on the mysterious and ruthless Nikoli (Mortensen), who is tied to one of London's most notorious organised Russian crime families. A harrowing chain of murder, deceit and retribution is put in motion when he crosses paths with Anna (Watts), an innocent midwife, trying to right a wrong she accidentally uncovers...
So, we've got Cronenberg and Mortensen working together again, Vincent Cassel and a script by Stephen Knight. Consider us interested!
