The Hills are alive with the sound of Wes Craven remakes
10th Apr 05
Spluttering it's way through pre-production woes, the remake of the classic Wes Craven film The Hills Have Eyes is now finally moving on full-steam ahead. The Alexandre Aja-directed project was initially put into turnaround by Dimension Films, yet was recently picked up by Fox Searhlight (who seem to be pretty keen at the moment to get involved in darker fare), beating several other production companies to the bid.
Craven, who directed and wrote the original, is producing with Marianne Maddalena and original producer Peter Locke. Aja, who directed and co-wrote the French horror film Switchblade Romance, will also be scripting the film with his Switchblade co-writer Gregory Levasseur.
On another note, bloody-disgusting have revealed that actor Mark Harmon (who strangely we here remember him for his lead role in the wet Jodie Foster film Stealing Home in 88) has possibly been approached to appear in the film. Only a rumour at present, but we'll bring you more as and when we hear it, although there's no news yet on the casting for Beast.
More Information
Recently snatched from Dimension, The Hills Have Eyes will be directed by Alex Aja (Switchblade Romance) and is about a family travelling across Nwe Mexico. When their trailer breaks down in the middle of the desert, they soon find themselves preyed upon by a cannibalistic, feral group of people, victims of years of nuclear testing in the area....
